He loves the upbeat spirit and the crowds.Yes, atheists can still celebrate christmas and the holiday season. It matters not how the ritual came into existence. No one is forcing atheists to celebrate christmas, let alone convert to christianity. As an atheist i get asked this question every year.
There are no set rules that dictate what holidays you can or can't celebrate as an atheist. My family, for example, decorates a christmas tree each year and they hang stockings for santa on christmas eve.The only thing we have in common is that we don't believe gods exist. But the christmas holiday, despite its religious origins, is accepted by most atheists as a secular holiday and many of us enjoy it as much as the christians do.All these things (santa claus, christmas trees, gift giving, &c) have no basis whatsoever in the bible or christianity.
Exactly, you can celebrate christmas solstice hanuka or whatever you want because you don't believe in anything that would prevent you from celebrating any of these things if you are an atheist.Join us to hear some of the answers to this question. It only matters how it is used. Why do many atheists celebrate christmas?
